Our topic for Term 1 is 'Medieval magic'. We will be looking at different styles of castles, people who live there and the jobs that they have. We will also compare different types of houses through the years. We will go to Warwick castle for our school trip; the exact date will be confirmed in September.
P.E will take place on Tuesday morning. Full PE kit will be needed (plimsolls are fine as we are doing gymnastics and dance/yoga). As with last term it would be great if your child can come in dressed in PE kit and bring in school uniform to change into please.
Will take place on Thursdays, please ensure your child has a coat and outdoor shoes as we may go to Frogmore or go for walks around the village.
Regular reading will help your child to continue improving their reading levels and phonics understanding. I will continue to send home phonics homework but the key words will be assessed at intervals throughout the term, so please do keep practising how to spell these (Please come and see me if you did not receive the letter with the highlighted list of words to practise).
Reading - please could you read with your child as often as you can, sharing books and story telling have huge benefits.
We teach phonics everyday. The weekly phonics sounds and key words will be stuck on our classroom door. Please do ask myself or Miss Boyd how to 'sound out' any phonics sounds that you are not sure of. If you can help your child with these at home, especially when reading with them, it will assist their ability in reading and writing. Please click on these links to find out more about phonics and "sounding out" whilst reading with your child at home.
