Our topic 'Once Upon a Time' will focus on History. We will sequence
significant events on a timeline and look at our own genealogy. Quentin Blake will be our stimulus in Art. In Science we will look at Healthy Bodies.
We will be having 2 sessions of PE a week on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Tuesday the children will be trying their hand at 'Football'. Tracksuit bottoms and sweatshirts will be advisable, as the weather gets colder. On Wednesday we are fortunate to be taking part in Forest School with Mrs Soper, you should have already received a separate letter explaining all about this.
If you have any interest or expertise in any of the areas mentioned above we would love to hear from you.Or if you are interested in listening to children read we would
greatly appreciate your help.
Homework – homework will be on Tuesdays. Children will receive one piece of either literacy or numeracy plus spellings each week based on something they have been learning in class that week. It is expected that children spend 30 minutes on homework and hand in what they have done on a Monday. Children are now old enough to be responsible for their homework, so it is their responsibility to get it in on time. If you wish to comment on homework, this is always appreciated especially if they found an aspect of it difficult.
Reading at home – it is essential that children read at home every night, even when they are fluent readers, as it helps them to understand phrasing and punctuation in
Literacy. If you still have last year's Reading Record book please can you ask your child to bring it in. Please try to remember to fill this in if you read with your child.
