Weekly Update
Monday 13th July
Hello everyone
I can’t believe this is the last week of your year in Nursery. It has gone so quickly and we have loved teaching you. We wish we could have seen more of you but we have been very impressed with all your brilliant learning at home.
Carry on learning and exploring over the summer. When you come back in September to your new class you will see me, Mrs Macrae and Mrs Thompson on your first few days as well as Mrs Soper, your fantastic new teacher. You will have so much fun in Reception and learn lots of wonderful things.
I have read one of my favourite stories to you this week. It’s called the Bog Baby. I wonder if you will find one when you play in the muddy puddles over the summer?
We have our last Zoom meeting of the year this Friday at 10am. It would be lovely to see you all to say goodbye for the summer.
Have the best time

Hello everyone
It was great to see some more of you in school last week and to be open for four days as well.
Mrs Thompson and I loved seeing some of you in our Zoom get together on Friday. It was fantastic to see all your amazing toys. Do try and join us on Friday as this week we will be joined by Mrs Macrae.
You may want to look at the transition section of our website to meet your new teacher Mrs Soper and to see a video tour of your new classroom 👍.
This week in school we are going to be reading Sharing a Shell 🐚 by Julia Donaldson. Mrs Soper read the story last week on the Reception class page if you would like to watch it.
We will also be reading a funny story called the Fish who could Wish 🐟 🐠. I’ve read it for you to watch at home. What things would you wish for?
Have a brilliant week at home or in school.😊

Hello everyone
I hope you had a lovely weekend and didn’t mind the wind and rain!
This week in school we will be reading the Snail and the Whale by Julia Donaldson. It is a fantastic story about a snail who wants to have an adventure. The whale in the story is a humpback whale. In our story last week the whale was a blue whale 🐳. What other whales can you find out about this week at home?
I have read a story for you called the Storm Whale. I don’t know what type of whale is rescued in the story. What do you think?
Have a brilliant week at home or at school.

Hello everyone
We hope you had a great weekend with your family and did lots of fun things.
As we are teaching and moving towards opening school for all children, we will be amalgamating our daily updates into one weekly update. This update will be available to read each Monday and will include a range of suggested activities that you can do throughout the week with your child. All other home learning, including weekly planning, remains the same and can be found on our home learning page. If you still have not requested a paper pack, and would like one, please get in touch.
This week at school we are reading the Bad Tempered Ladybird by Eric Carle. I have read the story for you below but I have left out some of the times that the ladybird meets the other animals. At 7 o'clock he meets the stag beetle in the book. Can you think of some times of the day that he could meet the other animals?
Perhaps you could have a go at writing the times, he meets the other animals, as a number and draw the animals as well. You are getting so good at drawing now. Can you also draw a clock face?
Don't forget to check the Home Learning page for other ideas of things to do at home.
Have a brilliant week at home or at school.

As we are teaching and moving towards opening school for all children, from today we will be amalgamating our daily updates into one weekly update. All other home learning, including weekly planning, remains the same and can be found on our home learning page. If you still have not requested a paper pack, and would like one, please get in touch.
Today we have two videos on our update. In one you can learn some facts about animals and in the other you can learn about the 'w' sound. This is the sound we will be learning in school this week. Can you think of any words that begin with this sound? I got a bit stuck after worm and wolf! Let a grown up know if you can think of some others.
Have a go at writing the letter 'w'. It's a lot of up and down movements! Can you make it look like a worm? Have a look below.

We hope you had a great day yesterday and didn’t get caught in any showers. Mrs Peel did as she went out without her coat on!
Today I thought you could count the legs on some of our giant insects. Some of you did this at school this week. The caterpillar’s legs are harder to count as they are small and there are so many of them!
Have a great weekend with your family.

Hello everyone
Hope you had a good day yesterday. A bit of rain has been so good for the plants outside. Hopefully our pumpkin plants will have grown a bit by next week. They need a lot of water.
This week we made these caterpillars in school using egg boxes. You may want to make one at home or use the time to catch up on some of our videos! Have a lovely day.

Hope you had a great day in the sunshine yesterday. It was very hot wasn’t it! This made me think of things you could do in your garden to keep cool. In the video I have shown you how to make a very easy boat out of foil. I want to see how much treasure my boat will hold before it sinks. Can you count the coins with me? How many do you think it will hold?

She has made a video showing you how you can make a ladybird just like the one in the story of What the Ladybird Heard. Hello everyone
Today we have a very funny story about a Wonkey Donkey which has been read by Mrs Macrae. It is a very tricky story to read with lots of rhyming words.
Can you think of any words that rhyme with your name? They have to have the same sound at the end with a different sound at the beginning of the word like Jack and sack. Have a think about it. It doesn't matter if they are not real words, just have a play with the sounds!
It may well be a rainy day today. Put your wellies on and splash in the puddles. See if you can find any worms in the garden, They love the wet weather.

Thursday 2nd April
Hello Nursery children and parents
Thank you for your messages, photos and videos. It has been lovely to see you.
I went into Nursery yesterday and was amazed to see how well your peas are growing!
Wow. I planted them outside which wasn't as much fun without you to help me.
Here is a close up!
I wondered if you might like to have a go and plant some seeds of your own at home. You could try growing some tomato plants. All you need is a tomato, an empty plastic pot or a small box and some soil from your garden.
1. Squeeze out the seeds from the tomato.
2. Place the seeds just under the soil.
3. Water a little and place in a sunny spot on a windowsill indoors.
They take a while to start growing so keep watering them.
Have a lovely day. I'm looking forward to eating those peas when we are back in school!

Hello Nursery children and parents
I hope you are all still having fun and are not running out of things to do!
Today I thought you might like to make some potions in the garden! Fill a large bowl with water and then add a sprinkling of things you can find in the garden. Some leaves or flowers. Check with your parents though before you pick any flowers!
When you put things in the water, watch to see if they float or sink. Try and guess before you drop them in the water. Were you right?
Mix everything up and then transfer to smaller plastic containers if you have any. Have a go at writing the letter 'p' for potions or even the whole word! You could label and decorate your potion containers and bottles.
Enjoy making your magical mixtures.

Hello Nursery children and parents
Today I thought I would share with you my recipe for making play dough. This is the recipe I use to make play dough in the Nursery. You can make it without the Cream of Tartar if you don't have any at home. It takes a bit of cooking on the hob and gets difficult to stir once it gets thick. If you keep it in a plastic bag or air tight box it will last for ages.
You don't need to add food colouring if you don't have any handy.
Have fun with your creations.
Missing you loads.

Hello Nursery children and parents
I hope you had a lovely weekend and found lots of things to do to keep you busy.
I thought you might like to play this numeral hunt game in your garden today. You just need some pieces of card/paper and a pen. You could try numbers 1-5 to start with and then try 1-10.
Parents can hide the numeral cards in the garden for you to find. Then you can cross the number off your smaller number card when you have found it. You could have a go at writing some of the numerals you find as well.
To extend this further the children can find the number of objects to match the number card such as 3 leaves on the number 3 card etc.
Have fun with this game. Let me know how you get on or if you think up your own game and I can share it on this page.
Thinking about you all.

Hello Nursery children and parents
What fantastic weather we are having this week! I hope you had fun in the garden yesterday and aren't missing your friends too much.
Yesterday I made a 'Mrs Peel' picture using orange peel and some bits from the garden! See if you can make your own picture today using things you can find in the garden or kitchen.
I also tried some shadow drawing as the sun was shining. Choose your favourite toy or something that is an interesting shape and put it on a sheet of paper. Use a pen to draw around the edge of the shadow. Here is Mrs Peel having a go!

Hello Nursery children and parents
I hope you had a lovely day yesterday in the sunshine.
It's another beautiful day today so I'm sharing an idea of something you can do outside which will help the birds as well!
Birds are looking for lots of nesting materials this time of year to create snuggly warm homes to hatch their eggs and keep their chicks warm. This super simple but effective idea is a way to help provide some nesting materials that they may use and need. By offering a variety of safe nesting materials in your garden, you can attract a variety of birds who are looking for nesting materials.
Recipe
• Wool/string cut into little 10cm pieces max
• Moss
• Dry grass
• Small twigs
• Dry leaves
• Kitchen Whisks (or string bags for oranges)
Simply push a selection of items through the whisk ‘bars’ until full and hang in a tree or near a hedge/shrub.
Watch the birds in your garden and tell your parents about them.
Have a great day everyone.
Really missing you all.

Good Morning Nursery,
We hope you had a lovely first day at home and enjoyed the beautiful sunshine.
On this page we will be sharing some ideas of things you could do at home. Please don't feel that you have to do all of them. It is always better to go with what your child is interested in at this stage in their development. If you would like to share some photographs of what you have been doing at home, we can display them on this page. You may inspire others to try some different things! Please email any you wish to share to the office.
'Magic' Painting - using just water and an old paintbrush (sponges or scrubbers)
see if you can paint the outdoors (garden walls, fences, patios, decks, any surface that you can see the water marks on). Try large body movements going up and down, side to side, rainbow movements and in circles both clockwise and anti-clockwise. This is great exercise and helps to strengthen the arm muscles.
If you get chance to go on the computer, try Phonics Pop on https://www.ictgames.com . Just look for the letters s,a,t,p,i,n initially and pop the bubbles with the matching letters. You may need to help your child to get started.
Have a great day everyone.
