Hello everyone

Hello Everyone

We had a fabulous two days at school and it was lovely to see those of you who were able to come in. As you are at home today I thought you might like to make a caterpillar like the one in the picture. See if you can find any stones in your garden  to use.

It was so lovely to see some of you back at school yesterday. You have really grown and look so grown up now. We had a great day playing and catching up with our friends. We also welcomed a new child to our class who has settled in already. Here are a few photos of us in the sunshine. Mrs Thompson has made a video to say Hi and to show you how to make your own hungry caterpillar on a leaf. Have fun today.

Hello everyone

Hope you had a great day in the sunshine yesterday. It was very hot wasn’t it! This made me think of things you could do in your garden to keep cool. In the video I have shown you how to make a very easy boat out of foil. I want to see how much treasure my boat will hold before it sinks. Can you count the coins with me? How many do you think it will hold?

Have fun and stay cool.

Enjoy your weekend.

We have stopped it half way through so that you can go and listen outside in your garden. Enjoy a peaceful moment and let a grown up know what you can hear.

Have a wonderful day. We miss you loads.

You may want to watch Mrs Thompson the Pirate make something delicious on the Reception Daily update page?

Are you pretending to be a pirate? What is your pirate name? Mine is Pirate Peel which is a bit boring. Can you think of a better pirate name for yourself?

This week I was in school and have made two videos of your classroom and outside area. I found an unexpected guest outside. Who could it be?

We hope you enjoyed the story of Supertato yesterday. Did you watch Mrs Soper read the story of Superworm as well on the Reception class page? I know you all love worms and superheroes! I spoke to one of your parents yesterday who said you had found a worm and were showing the worm the different rooms in your house!

Today we have a fantastic video that Mrs Thompson has made and a superheroes game to play with her. Mrs Thompson has some help from someone. Can you guess who it is?

I've recorded a video about ladybirds for you today. I was hoping to find some in my garden but they were all hiding from the rain. Can you find any in your garden? Look out for them sun bathing on a leaf.

Hello everybody

We hope you had fun in the rain showers yesterday. Mrs Thompson thought you might like to make something today inside as the weather is not so good! She has made a video showing you how you can make a ladybird just like the one in the story of What the Ladybird Heard. Go to the Daily Update for the Reception class and you will find the video there.

Can you think up a story about your ladybird? Can you tell it to an adult?

Have another great day being creative.

Wednesday 29th April

Hello everyone

Today we have a very funny story about a Wonkey Donkey which has been read by Mrs Macrae. It is a very tricky story to read with lots of rhyming words.

Can you think of any words that rhyme with your name? They have to have the same sound at the end with a different sound at the beginning of the word like Jack and sack. Have a think about it. It doesn't matter if they are not real words, just have a play with the sounds!

It may well be a rainy day today. Put your wellies on and splash in the puddles. See if you can find any worms in the garden, They love the wet weather.

Enjoy your day whatever you do.

Hope you enjoyed all the beautiful sunny weather this weekend and spent lots of time in your garden. I did lots of gardening and found something which reminded me of one of your favourite stories. I've read it for you today. Can you guess what it is?

Tomorrow I will show you a video that Mrs Thompson made in her back garden. She is looking for something and needs our help!

Don't forget to check the updated plans on the Home Learning section. Only do what you can. We know you have a difficult job of juggling so many things at home. It would be great if you could watch the phonics videos.

Thank you for sharing your photos and videos of some brilliant learning and helping at home.

Thursday 2nd April

Hello Nursery children and parents

Thank you for your messages, photos and videos. It has been lovely to see you.

I went into Nursery yesterday and was amazed to see how well your peas are growing!

Wow.  I planted them outside which wasn't as much fun without you to help me.

Here is a close up!

I wondered if you might like to have a go and plant some seeds of your own at home. You could try growing some tomato plants. All you need is a tomato, an empty plastic pot or a small box and some soil from your garden.

1. Squeeze out the seeds from the tomato.

2. Place the seeds just under the soil.

3. Water a little and place in a sunny spot on a windowsill indoors.

They take a while to start growing so keep watering them.

Have a lovely day. I'm looking forward to eating those peas when we are back in school!

Hello Nursery children and parents

I hope you are all still having fun and are not running out of things to do!

Today I thought you might like to make some potions in the garden! Fill a large bowl with water and then add a sprinkling of things you can find in the garden. Some leaves or flowers. Check with your parents though before you pick any flowers!

When you put things in the water, watch to see if they float or sink. Try and guess before you drop them in the water. Were you right?

Mix everything up and then transfer to smaller plastic containers if you have any. Have a go at writing the letter 'p' for potions or even the whole word! You could label and decorate your potion containers and bottles.

Enjoy making your magical mixtures.

Tuesday 31st March

Hello Nursery children and parents

Today I thought I would share with you my recipe for making play dough. This is the recipe I use to make play dough in the Nursery. You can make it without the Cream of Tartar if you don't have any at home. It takes a bit of cooking on the hob and gets difficult to stir once it gets thick. If you keep it in a plastic bag or air tight box it will last for ages.

You don't need to add food colouring if you don't have any handy.

Have fun with your creations.

Missing you loads.

Monday 30th March

Hello Nursery children and parents

I hope you had a lovely weekend and found lots of things to do to keep you busy.

I thought you might like to play this numeral hunt game in your garden today. You just need some pieces of card/paper and a pen. You could try numbers 1-5 to start with and then try 1-10.

Parents can hide the numeral cards in the garden for you to find. Then you can cross the number off your smaller number card when you have found it. You could have a go at writing some of the numerals you find as well.

To extend this further the children can find the number of objects to match the number card such as 3 leaves on the number 3 card etc.

Have fun with this game. Let me know how you get on or if you think up your own game and I can share it on this page.

Thinking about you all.

I hope you had fun yesterday making pictures. I would love to see any if you want to email them to the office.

I'm missing story time with you so I've read you a story today called Doing the Garden by Sarah Garland. It's not the same without you as it was far too quiet and I didn't get any questions! Hope you enjoy it.

Hello Nursery children and parents

What fantastic weather we are having this week! I hope you had fun in the garden yesterday and aren't missing your friends too much.

Yesterday I made a 'Mrs Peel' picture using orange peel and some bits from the garden! See if you can make your own picture today using things you can find in the garden or kitchen.

I also tried some shadow drawing as the sun was shining. Choose your favourite toy or something that is an interesting shape and put it on a sheet of paper. Use a pen to draw around the edge of the shadow. Here is Mrs Peel having a go!

Whatever you choose to do today have a wonderful time.

Wednesday 25th March

Hello Nursery children and parents

I hope you had a lovely day yesterday in the sunshine.

It's another beautiful day today so I'm sharing an idea of something you can do outside which will help the birds as well!

Birds are looking for lots of nesting materials this time of year to create snuggly warm homes to hatch their eggs and keep their chicks warm. This super simple but effective idea is a way to help provide some nesting materials that they may use and need. By offering a variety of safe nesting materials in your garden, you can attract a variety of birds who are looking for nesting materials.

Recipe

• Wool/string cut into little 10cm pieces max

• Moss

• Dry grass

• Small twigs

• Dry leaves

• Kitchen Whisks  (or string bags for oranges)

Simply push a selection of items through the whisk ‘bars’ until full and hang in a tree or near a hedge/shrub.

Watch the birds in your garden and tell your parents about them.

Have a great day everyone.

Really missing you all.

Mrs Peel and the Nursery Team

Tuesday 24th March

Good Morning Nursery,

We hope you had a lovely first day at home and enjoyed the beautiful sunshine.

On this page we will be sharing some ideas of things you could do at home. Please don't feel that you have to do all of them. It is always better to go with what your child is interested in at this stage in their development. If you would like to share some photographs of what you have been doing at home, we can display them on this page. You may inspire others to try some different things! Please email any you wish to share to the office.

'Magic' Painting - using just water and an old paintbrush (sponges or scrubbers)

see if you can paint the outdoors (garden walls, fences, patios, decks, any surface that you can see the water marks on). Try large body movements going up and down, side to side, rainbow movements and in circles both clockwise and anti-clockwise. This is great exercise and helps to strengthen the arm muscles.

If you get chance to go on the computer, try Phonics Pop on https://www.ictgames.com . Just look for the letters s,a,t,p,i,n initially and pop the bubbles with the matching letters. You may need to help your child to get started.

Have a great day everyone.
